Hi kids, adults, young adults, old adults... everyone. There's not too much to report just now. Though I'm sure that we will soon have some big black tie news. Looks like we might have a show beginning of March with Theset, though that is not confirmed. We played our first show in Nanaimo last week at the Queens. That was a trip (pun intended, bitch). Anyways, I'm only posting this because nothing has been added to this blog in a long time and I thought something new was in order. If anyone ever reads this message in a bottle, floating the high seas of technology, just know that I love... you. Now I'm blushing. My whole body. Okay, I'm going.

Well kids, and I mean all kids (below, above, and including the age of 19), we have ourselves a couple of shows coming up. Yes, please come to them and bask in the glory that is pop music created by true Black Tie Socialists, made for the likes of you. No, don't worry yourselves because our good friend and pseudo Black Tie Social member Paul Affleck will be there (hopefully covered head to toe in bells... yeah, what's the symbolism of that?) to help us bring our "rock and roll" (which was originally a slang term for sexual intercourse) to a whole new level (of sexuality). Now don't let all these hints at growing up hinder your interest. If need be, we would all love to sit down with you and have "the talk", so that you feel more comfortable, more like one of the gang at these upcoming events. Pub Crawls and More Rice

The Show on the night of Friday, November 4th was a night to remember. Steamers Pub was boiling with the local Biology class pub crawl. Black Tie and Maurice hit it old school with some definate old school BEATS! Heavy Heart was played and a single tear fell down my cheek. My hair is red.

Well, kids. It looks like we've got ourselves an all-ager. Saturday, September 29th at the Garry Oak Room with the Paper Cranes, and uhh... some other bands that I can't remember. The show is the day before my birthday, so bring gifts. Also, there's a Halloween theme going on. I don't know what that's all about, but if you come in costume it costs $6, otherwise it's $8. But if you're attractive we'll let you come to Denny's after the show with us. Worth it, I think.

On a sadder note, I lost my brown bandana. I better go get another one for the show. Unless we're going in costume. Hit it?

well, the hush gave way to this:

black tie social is playing much does victoria.
it is a live television taping for much music (CHUM TV)
it is a concert for all to enjoy
it is making us at black tie HQ giddy and tired (at the same time)
from practicing and getting press kits together.
these are all cold, hard facts.

we are allowed to tell you that it is officially on september 10th
and will be an evening show that will be over @ 10PM
we will be on somewhere in the middle (second or third)
and we would like to see everyone during and after the show!
we might have some goodies available at the show due to our need
of "skrilla" so "hook up ya platinum" and "lean back wit tha hustle"

The Low Down on the Down Low

It's been a while since I have made a post. I know we've missed each other. Well, the good news is that we have finished all the recording and mixing and blah blah blah and you can now hear the new version of "Silver Screens" on our beautiful website. The bad news is that we are now, as a band, officially dirt poor. So what does this mean for you? Well, I'm not sure exactly. We have to decide if we are going to sell homemade copies of the EP at shows, or if we are going to spend more money we don't necessarily have to get it packaged and actually release it. When we decide we will tell. Then you will know and all will be well.

More news in the land of Black Tie Social... we've been booked to play a show at Lucky Bar on Friday, September 2nd with TheSet and Kincaide and... a band from Vancouver? I think? Regardless, good times. Joining us on stage will be our good friend Paul Affleck, and hopefully our other good friend Matthew Davidson. We also have another show booked, but it's a secret... for some reason. And I won't tell you what it is in case ... well in case of something. Better than a case full of nothing I suppose.

It is a bright sunny day. I just woke up. It's a Sunday. Sun seems to be our theme. While most of you are still sleeping, black tie is in full swing, but not making music in the audio sence. 'Tis the season for guest artists. As you know Matthew Davidsonwill will be joining us on April 1st at Lucky. What you don't know is that he will quite possibly be joining us at The UVic grad party and the as of yet unconfirmed April 2nd at The Central Bar and Grill (Opening for Lowest of the Low). In keeping with the festive atmosphere, the UVic grad party will also feature DJ Anti-Social (aka Joshua from Counting Heartbeats) on turn-tables, keyboards, knobs and dials, as well as RAWK. All of us boys and girl are looking forward to not only making music for you but also with these fine musicians.

Top of the day to you'z all. News from black tie land:

The past month or so has been a tumultuous time for black tie socialists. While desperately trying to get some work done on our album, (alleged album?) we have had to undergo some line up changes. Marlaina Rhymer (Sax/Keys/Vocals) is no longer with us. No, she is not dead. She is very much alive and kicking but she will no longer be accompanying us on our musical journeys. The thing is, Marlaina is not only an excellent muscian but a scholarly woman as well. While we are out blowing up our brains with rock and/or roll she is dedicated to her studies at a college called Camosun. We wish her the best and look forward to sharing this love called music with her again in the future.

In response to this, the daring, brave, beautiful, cunning, funky, dope, and cool Suzanne Wetzer has come to save our souls. She is going to rock our keyboard/vocal section on February the Twelveth at the Gary Oak Room. Many thanks to Suzanne. She blew us all in to small peices by learning eight songs in about an hour and a half. I soiled myself. Katie didn't see.

Well, I don't think we played our best at the Garry Oak show on Friday, but I still had a kickass mothafuckin time. The energy was flowing so much that I broke a string in the second song and had to use a different guitar. Possibly the best response we've ever gotten from a crowd, which leads me to thinking... have we been playing for the wrong people? Well, maybe. But nonetheless, I want to thank everyone who came and shared their love and energy with us. Even Jason. It's not often I say that, but there it is. I just got home from seeing "Coach Carter". It was supposed to be either free or half-price, but my unreliable friend (let's call her Jena Rianne Gogo... too subtle?) failed me once again. The point is that Samuel L. Jackson kicks ass... he's not yelling, that's the way he talks. Food for thought. Come to the next show. You won't regret it. And if you do, you will get nothing from us.
